Chambers Social Responsibility
Laurie is passionate about social responsibility at the Bar. He works with Maitland Chambers and the Chancery Bar Association on developing their social responsibility and wellbeing strategies, and in 2021 was appointed Co-Chair of the Bar Council’s Pro Bono and Social Responsibility Committee.
Judicial Appointments
Laurie was appointed as a Deputy District Judge in 2019, and as a Deputy Chancery Master in 2020.
Education
Laurie read English at Christ's College, Cambridge, where he was a scholar and achieved a first in both Part I and Part II. He subsequently studied the Graduate Diploma in Law (CPE) at City University, and the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law.
In his bar finals, he was classed as outstanding, and was awarded the Everard Ver Heyden Foundation Prize for his overall performance and the Bar Association for Commerce, Finance and Industry Prize for coming first in the year in Commercial Practice. He was also a Queen Mother Scholar of the Middle Temple for two years running.
Laurie joined Maitland Chambers in October 2009 having successfully completed his pupillage.
